“Getting to lead The Genesis Foundation for Children at this moment in my career and personal life is an incredible honor and joy. I’ve had the great privilege of being on the receiving end of thoughtful, well-coordinated pediatric care and understand how vital this approach can be to the well-being of an entire family.”
We are pleased to announce that Laura Toni-Holsinger has been selected as the new President of The Genesis Foundation for Children. Laura brings more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience, with a career defined by strategic growth, collaborative leadership, and a deep commitment to building stronger communities and expanding opportunity.
As a parent who has navigated a rare disease diagnosis within her own family, Laura brings a firsthand understanding of the complex realities facing children and families, and a profound appreciation for the importance of compassionate, coordinated, wraparound care.
Throughout her career, Laura has led organizations through moments of transformation and growth. As Executive Director of United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, she built on a strong organizational legacy while developing a new strategy focused on working families, cross-sector collaboration, and economic mobility. She brought together nonprofit, corporate, government, and community partners to change the narrative around financial stability and reduce barriers to accessing critical services.
“Every family deserves the gold standard of care when it comes to their child. I was instantly struck by this priority at The Genesis Foundation and am excited to be a part of the team that works to make that happen for children and families throughout New England.”
In her most recent role as Vice President, Partner Engagement at City Year, Laura has worked nationally to develop and steward strategic partnerships that advance opportunities for young people. She has led cross-functional teams and complex, multi-dimensional partnerships, including the development of City Year’s New York State Strategy and the successful cultivation of significant philanthropic investment to advance the strategy and build a strong foundation for sustained impact.
Laura holds a Master of Public Administration from Suffolk University and a BA in Communications from Virginia Tech. She has been recognized with a Comcast NBCUniversal Leadership Award for City Year Alumni and was named a Top 10 Business Leaders Under 40 in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
