After a six month search, The Genesis Foundation for Children’s Board of Directors is pleased to introduce Joe Cofield as its new Chief Advancement Officer. With a three-decade career in development and extensive experience in major gifts fundraising, Joe will serve as the strategic leader of The Genesis Foundation’s philanthropy.
Recently, Joe has worked closely with a variety of organizations as a philanthropic advisor, including Year Up, Cambridge College, and the Tremont School. Prior to consulting, Joe held roles as Senior Philanthropic Advisor for Olin College and American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
In previous posts, Joe successfully completed a $122 million fund-raising campaign at Babson College, played a major role in Boston College’s $125 million campaign, initiated Brandeis University’s planned giving/major gifts program, and served as Emerson College’s Vice President for Advancement. He has also led advancement efforts in leadership positions at Nichols College and University of Massachusetts Foundation; he earned two Circle of Excellence Awards in Fundraising from the national Council For Advancement and Support of Education for his work at Babson and a CASE best development effort award for his work at Boston College.
Joe attended St. Ambrose College, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He also completed post-graduate work in Theology at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and received a Master of Social Work at Boston University.
Joe lives in Needham, MA with his wife, Julie. They have two grown sons.
